Dr. John Park, Roy B. Davis Professor in Agricultural Cooperation, Texas A&M University

Dr. John Park was awarded the Distinguished Roy B. Davis Professor in Agricultural Cooperation at Texas A&M University a number of years ago. He received his B.S. in Agricultural Economics from Brigham Young University, where his emphasis was Food Industry Management. He continued his study of agricultural marketing with an M.S. in Agricultural Economics from Utah State University and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University. Dr. Park provides statewide leadership and coordination for Extension educational programs and research for agricultural cooperatives in Texas. He also teaches the co-op class at Texas A&M every fall. He works closely with the Texas Agricultural Cooperative Council and is also a member of the board of directors for that organization.

9:15-10:30 a.m. Changes Like Never Before: The 2023 Internal Fraud Update
Steve Dawson, CPA, Dawson Forensic Analytics, PLLC

Steve Dawson is the President of Dawson Forensic Analytics, PLLC and for over 30 years has performed forensic investigations, internal control design consulting, accounting records reconstruction, and forensic training services for various business entities located throughout the United States, including the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC), and other state and federal regulatory agencies. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting, and holds Certified Public Accountant certificates in Texas and Arizona. He also holds a certificate as a Certified Fraud Examiner.

Gail Faries, CPA, D. Williams & Co.

Gail Faries is an audit manager with the firm of D. Williams and Company, P.C. His responsibilities include overseeing audit engagements of the firm. Prior to joining D. Williams and Company, Gail was CFO of Texas Organic Cotton Marketing Cooperative in Lubbock. His work experience includes positions with various public accounting firms, including Keith Reeger and Company, LLP; Love, Hays, and Reeger, LLP; and Elms Farris and Company. Gail has several years of experience performing audits of many cooperative entities including gins, cotton warehouses, grain elevators and farm supply clients and is very familiar with their operations. In addition, Gail also has a certified fraud examiner designation.

Nick Mueting, CPA, Lindburg Vogel Pierce Faris, Chartered

Nick Mueting is a Certified Public Accountant and the Managing Shareholder of the accounting firm Lindburg Vogel Pierce Faris, Chartered working primarily in the Dodge City, Kansas office. Nick recently served as National President of the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives (NSAC) and is currently the NSAC Accounting and Auditing Committee Chair. He works primarily in the agricultural cooperative industry as an external auditor, but loves advising his clients to solve all types of accounting and tax issues.

Dr. John Robinson, Professor and Extension Specialist for Cotton Marketing, Texas A&M University

John Robinson, Ph.D. is a professor and extension specialist for cotton marketing in the Department of Agricultural Economics. His prior experience includes work within the Texas A&M University System in College Station, Thrall, Vernon, Weslaco and at Mississippi State University. His educational programming emphasizes risk management issues related to cotton, including cash markets, hedging, contracting, insurance, and policy issues. He is a member of the American Agricultural Economics Association and the Southern Agricultural Economics Association.

Greg Taylor, CPA, D. Williams & Co.

Greg Taylor grew up on a six-hundred-acre cattle and cotton farm south of Ralls, Texas. He is a shareholder with D. Williams and Company, P.C. in Lubbock, and oversees the firm’s assurance, litigation support and valuation services. He joined D. Williams and Company, P.C. in 1989 after working with Doshier, Pickens & Francis, P.C. in Amarillo, Texas and in the Lubbock office of KPMG Peat Marwick. Greg received his B.B.A. in finance and accounting from West Texas State University (now West Texas A&M University) in 1983 and his M.B.A. from West Texas State University in 1988. Greg served as the National President of NSAC in 2008-2009.
