Educational Offerings

NSAC offers a variety of educational offerings to members and those seeking information on accounting, tax, finance and business education on cooperatives. Whether someone prefers online learning, viewing previously recorded content, in-person education or written articles, the organization has something for everyone.

NSAC provides quality education and materials to members and we continue to explore new opportunities to provide enhanced education opportunities.

The Tax Finance and Accounting Conference for Cooperatives (TFACC) is the annual education conference co-hosted by NSAC and NRECA. This conference offers sessions focused on cooperative tax, accounting, finance, business, management, operations, human resources and leadership. In addition to a general cooperative focus, sessions are offered with a focus on electric, broadband, agriculture and other cooperatives. CPE is provided.

Chapter Annual Meetings are typically conducted as day-long or multi-day events with educational sessions, networking opportunities and leadership activities. CPE is provided.

NSAC offers a robust online Cooperative Learning Networks (CLNs) providing webinars with access to presentations on a host of timely topics and issues vital to the day-to-day financial management and business operations of cooperatives. CPE is provided. CLNs are complimentary for members with fees included with their membership dues.

The Society shares informative articles via online blogs and articles in their technical journal, The Cooperative Accountant.

NSAC’s Connect platform, provides members the ability to share content and experiences.

New Energy Funding Available for Cooperatives Through USDA’s REAP/IRA Program

Find out how rural cooperatives can benefit from grants and guaranteed loans to finance renewable and energy efficiency upgrades through the USDA’s IRA Rural Energy for America Program. Agricultural producers and small businesses may be able to access energy improvements. Agricultural producers may also apply for new energy-efficient equipment and new system loans for agricultural production and processing. The Inflation Reduction Act provided an additional $2 billion for the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). USDA made $300 million available in the first round; while the application deadline is March 31, look for additional notices of funding availability to be published in the future.

Features of Modern Cooperative Statutes in the United States

While practitioners may wish for uniform cooperative laws or even a “Delaware for Cooperatives,” U.S. cooperative statutes continue to vary greatly. This webinar will describe common and novel features of general purpose, agricultural, and worker cooperative statutes across the United States including statutes based on a limited association model. We will consider which statutory features best accommodate the needs of cooperative businesses and their members, which state statutes have furthered successful cooperative ecosystems, and what provisions could be drafted to make cooperative statutes even more effective.
