When it comes to addressing business risk, insurance is often one of the first areas turned to help offset that balance sheet exposure. However, the type and scope of insurance products are wide and varied. Likewise, understanding what needs to be considered when setting limits equally key in the risk transfer process.

Presenter and Moderator Bios

Presenter: Brian King, First Vice President, Alliant Insurance Services, Inc

Brian King is a First Vice President with Alliant Insurance, one of the top 10 largest global brokers, within their Specialty Food & Agribusiness Practice, serving as a trusted technician and advisor to the C-Suite, risk managers and their boards. Brian’s knowledge is founded on a 15-year career in the Property & Casualty insurance industry, including at multinational broking and underwriting corporations.  He is known for his attention to detail, service minded approach, as well as his holistic style to managing risk.

In his role at Alliant, Brian draws on his extensive experience to help clients first understand and uncover what their risk exposures are, where mitigation can occur, and then strategically design capital efficient insurance structures through a mix of both traditional and alternative risk transfer solutions.

With a proven track record of battlefield broking, technical knowledge, and a gift for articulating complex ideas in an accessible manner, Brian King continues to be a refreshing voice in the insurance landscape.

Moderator: Wayne Sine, CPA, Education Director, National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives

After retiring as Tax Director for Southern States Cooperative, Wayne Sine was asked to serve as Education Director for NSAC. He has been a long-time and active member of NSAC, having served as past President of the Atlantic Chapter and past Chair of the Tax Committee. In addition to his work with NSAC, Wayne has served on the Legal, Tax, and Accounting (LTA) Committee of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, Chaired the Tax Committees for both the Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the Virginia Manufacturers Association, served on the Tax Policy Committee of the Virginia Society of CPAs, and served as past Region Vice President for the Tax Executives Institute.
