Job Description:

Federated Co-ops, Inc. an Agronomy, Energy and Retail cooperative located in Central Minnesota is seeking to hire a Senior Accountant in our Finance Department.

To qualify for this position, the candidate, must have the ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail within this fast-paced, growing organization. The role will proactively ensure the organization of financial information and will validate, enter and monitor, research and audit data to ensure data accuracy in the system. Additional core duties include preparing reports & returns for company and regulatory agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reconciliation of Bank Statements to General Ledger.
  • Work with division and location managers regarding data findings and resolution.
  • Preparing data for reports to forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Preparing reports for regulatory agencies, such as Fuel Taxes and Sales Taxes.
  • Reconcile subsidiary accounts to General Ledger.
  • Filing and organizing of financial information.
  • Researching information for audits.
  • Proactively validates, enters and monitors data to ensure accuracy of inventory in the system.
  • Assists in the monthly close cycle.

Requirements

Familiar and able to apply a variety of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of fundamental accounting tasks usually associated with the following experience level:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business finance, accounting or related degree or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance or similar field completing duties as outlined.
  • 1-3 years of business analytics or financial analysis experience preferred.
  • 1-3 years working with business managers providing reconciliation and financial data analysis.
  • Computer and Microsoft Word and financial processing and Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software.
  • Excellent analytical, detail orientation and work prioritization skills.
  • Strong customer support skills with a demonstrated customer focus.
  • Able to perform physical activity associated with the daily tasks of the position.
