Presenter and Moderator Bios

Presenter: Rebecca VanNattan, CPA, Partner, Heard, McElroy and Vestal, LLC (formerly Curtis Blakely & Co., P.C.)

Rebecca currently serves as a Tax Partner. She joined Curtis Blakely & Co., P.C. in 2014 and then Heard, McElroy and Vestal, LLC through a merger of the firms effective 1/1/2023.

She is a graduate of LeTourneau University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration. She is heavily involved in the firm’s telecommunications practice. Her specialties include consolidated tax returns, cooperative tax, and state and local tax compliance, planning, and consulting.

Presenter: Mitchell McCoy, CPA, Partner, Heard, McElroy and Vestal, LLC (formerly Curtis Blakely & Co., P.C.)

Mitchell currently serves as an Audit Partner. He joined Curtis Blakely & Co., P.C. in 2013 and then Heard, McElroy and Vestal, LLC through a merger of the firms effective 1/1/2023.

He is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Professional Accountancy. He provides audit and attest services to telephone, electric, water, and oil and gas clients. In addition, he specializes in employee benefit plan audits.

Moderator: Wayne Sine, CPA, Director of Education, National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives

Wayne Sine is an experienced and highly knowledgeable professional in the field of Tax. Wayne recently retired as Tax Director from his company, Southern States Cooperative. He has extensive experience working with agricultural cooperatives and has been a long-time member of the NSAC. He is extremely active in the NSAC, serving as both past Chapter President of the Atlantic Chapter, past Chair of the Tax Committee, and is currently serving as the NSAC Director of Education. Wayne's career is marked with several accomplishments, and he has always been involved in many organizations, spreading his knowledge. Wayne is a member of the Legal, Tax, and Accounting (LTA) Committee for the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives. He is also Past Chair of both the Tax Committee of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the Virginia Manufacturers Association. Wayne also served on the Tax Policy Committee at the Virginia Society of CPAs, and served as past Region Vice President for the Tax Executives Institute.
