Course Description

In June of 2012 the Supreme Court upheld the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (both acts commonly known as Health Care Reform). The impact of this decision affects every business in some way. This CLN will focus on how you and your business will be impacted and review some of the health care reform provisions that were effective starting in 2012 and beyond. Now is the time to review what impacted you for 2012 as well as what will impact you and your business for 2013 and 2014. Topics will include income tax implications for businesses and individuals, payroll issues, and a brief overview of benefits/insurance including effective dates. At the conclusion of the CLN you will have a general understanding of the key health care reform provisions and the considerations for you and your business.

Presenter and Moderator Bios

Presenter: Rebecca Smith, CPA, MST, Tax Manager, Schenck

Rebecca Smith, CPA, MST is a Tax Manager with Schenck and has an extensive background providing tax planning and compliance for privately-held businesses, with a special focus on serving the manufacturing industry and dairy cooperatives. Her specialties include taxation of corporate and flow-through entities, assisting clients with FIN 48 compliance, as well as the preparation of quarterly and annual FAS 109 calculations. She has also represented clients during federal and state tax audits and appeals. In addition, Rebecca has assisted with private letter rulings for cooperatives for the Section 199 Manufacturing Deduction. Rebecca’s experience includes over 11 years of tax experience with Big Four firms in Milwaukee before joining Schenck in December 2010. Rebecca also served as the Midwest lead for a Big Four firm’s national cooperative practice and worked with several dairy cooperatives. Delivery System

  • All programs are delivered using the Zoom platform.
  • Confirmations will include log-in instructions.
  • Participants are able to participate using any device with an Internet connect (if the device does not have speakers, the participant can also dial-in) or they can participate with audio only by dialing in.
  • All registrants will receive a link to the CLN’s recording by email within 48 business hours of event’s conclusion.
  • There will be assistance available to help with technical and connectivity issues up to 10 minutes prior to the start of the presentation.

Registration

All registration is done on-line and each guest must provide their name and email address to participate. All NSAC members may register for free. Non-members may register for a nominal fee.

Refund Policy

NSAC will not issue refunds for CLNs. If a registrant is unable to participate in the CLN and provides notification to info@nsacoop.org 48 hours prior to the session, a credit will be provided for a future CLN. Alert the NSAC staff member monitoring the CLN if technical difficulties are encountered and technical support will be provided to eliminate problems with future CLNs.

Additional Information

Live participation is required for CPE credit and polling questions must be answered to document your active participation. All registrants will receive an email following the session with links to the slides and/or handouts, and a link to the CLN recording (unless otherwise stated). If you are unable to participate in the live session, you can still watch the recorded session, but you will not be eligible for CPE credits. Those eligible for credits will receive their certificate by email with 7 business days.
