Course Description
Please join us for a webinar presented by NCFC exploring some of the more challenging issues surrounding patronage allocations. Our panel of farmer cooperative tax experts will discuss the mechanics of patronage; issues surrounding book/tax differences; qualified and nonqualified allocations; multiple allocation pools; investment income and gains on sales; and more.

Presenter and Moderator Bios
Presenter: Barry Jencik, CPA, Partner, Standera & Jencik
Barry is a CPA and Co-managing partner at Greendyke Jencik & Associates CPAs, PLLC. Barry specializes in providing tax advisory and compliance services to a variety of businesses and individuals. Barry spent over 22 years with KPMG, LLP, most recently as a tax partner and managing director. Barry continues to provide tax services to a wide range of business clients involved in manufacturing, technology, professional and other services, and software publishing, including numerous cooperative organizations.
Barry started his career in KPMG’s Buffalo office, and subsequently was selected for a two-year rotational assignment in KPMG’s Washington, D.C. National Tax Practice, where he was involved in advising KPMG operating offices on a variety of complex tax issues, assisting clients with ruling requests, and contributing to various KPMG publications on legislative and regulatory issues . Barry also has significant experience in serving clients involved in the high technology, manufacturing and service sectors, with significant international and multi-state tax issues.
Jerry is an active member of the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives (NSAC) and the LTA of the National Council of Farm Cooperatives (NCFC).
Presenter: Jared Kempel, Managing Director, Baker Tilly US
Jared Kempel, CPA, is a Managing Director with Baker Tilly in Madison, Wisconsin, where he works with clients on accounting and financial matters. A graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Accountancy, Jared has built his career serving businesses and organizations with accounting and financial expertise. He is also actively involved with the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives (NSAC) and National Council of Farmer Cooperatives (NCFC).
Presenter: Tami Peterson, Tax Director, Land O'Lakes, inc.
Tami Peterson is Tax Director at Land O’Lakes, bringing more than 20 years of experience in tax and financial management. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augsburg University and an MBA in Business from Metropolitan State University. Tami is an active member of the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives (NSAC) and the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives (NCFC), where she stays engaged with issues and developments affecting the cooperative industry.

Delivery System
- All programs are delivered using the Zoom platform.
- Confirmations will include log-in instructions.
- Participants are able to participate using any device with an Internet connect (if the device does not have speakers, the participant can also dial-in) or they can participate with audio only by dialing in.
- All registrants will receive a link to the CLN’s recording by email within 48 business hours of event’s conclusion.
- There will be assistance available to help with technical and connectivity issues up to 10 minutes prior to the start of the presentation.
Registration
All registration is done on-line and each guest must provide their name and email address to participate. All NSAC members may register for free. Non-members may register for a nominal fee.
Refund Policy
NSAC will not issue refunds for CLNs. If a registrant is unable to participate in the CLN and provides notification to info@nsacoop.org 48 hours prior to the session, a credit will be provided for a future CLN. Alert the NSAC staff member monitoring the CLN if technical difficulties are encountered and technical support will be provided to eliminate problems with future CLNs.
Additional Information
Live participation is required for CPE credit and polling questions must be answered to document your active participation. All registrants will receive an email following the session with links to the slides and/or handouts, and a link to the CLN recording (unless otherwise stated). If you are unable to participate in the live session, you can still watch the recorded session, but you will not be eligible for CPE credits. Those eligible for credits will receive their certificate by email with 7 business days.
