Merging with another cooperative can be a stressful time for your organization. Sometimes the transition is smooth and sometimes it rocky, but one thing certain, no one can predict all of the issues that might occur. In the rush to get something done, how the accounting will be handled, and other soft issues like who is now going to do what, gets left to â€œfigure out later.â€ This presentation is from the perspective of an outsider, the independent auditor, of a few ideas and things to think about before you say â€œI do.â€
Presenter and Moderator Bios
Erik Gillam joined Aldrich in 2004 and has spent his entire career focused on providing assurance audits,reviews and compilations to agricultural cooperatives. Erik leads the agribusiness niche at Aldrich. As a leading agribusiness consultant, Erik has experience working with a range of agricultural-related clients from small family operated farms to large cooperative organizations that are owned by farmer members. Erik works with company owners to understand their financial situation and help them improve on processes. Erik graduated from Corban University.
Nick Mueting is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner and shareholder with the auditing firm of Lindburg Vogel Pierce Faris, Chartered in the Dodge City office. Nick works mainly in the agricultural cooperative industry as an external auditor, and has a special interest in internal controls and fraud risk management.

- Participants are able to participate using any device with an Internet connect (if the device does not have speakers, the participant can also dial-in) or they can participate with audio only by dialing in.
- All registrants will receive a link to the CLN’s recording by email within 48 business hours of event’s conclusion.
- There will be assistance available to help with technical and connectivity issues up to 10 minutes prior to the start of the presentation.
All registration is done on-line and each guest must provide their name and email address to participate. All NSAC members may register for free. Non-members may register for a nominal fee.
NSAC will not issue refunds for CLNs. If a registrant is unable to participate in the CLN and provides notification to firstname.lastname@example.org 48 hours prior to the session, a credit will be provided for a future CLN. Alert the NSAC staff member monitoring the CLN if technical difficulties are encountered and technical support will be provided to eliminate problems with future CLNs.
Live participation is required for CPE credit and polling questions must be answered to document your active participation. All registrants will receive an email following the session with links to the slides and/or handouts, and a link to the CLN recording (unless otherwise stated). If you are unable to participate in the live session, you can still watch the recorded session, but you will not be eligible for CPE credits. Those eligible for credits will receive their certificate by email with 7 business days.
