Course Description

In this one hour session we will be discussing that managing cyber risk has become a key challenge for cooperative management. The nearly constant stream of data breaches, hacks and cyber-espionage has created enormous challenges for organizations. In this webinar, BKD will explore how cyber threats have changed to create a new sense of urgency and how organizations can address them by assessing their cyber risk exposure, creating a strong cybersecurity program and adopting leading governance practices.

Presenter and Moderator Bios

Presenter: Jan Hertzberg, Director, BKD

Jan has more than 30 years of experience providing IT audit, risk, cybersecurity and privacy compliance services. This includes extensive experience in identifying and managing IT internal control risks and recommending solutions that apply cybersecurity and privacy frameworks (including COBIT, NIST, GAPP, ISO and AICPA Trust Principles) to implement leading practices and help clients meet compliance requirements. Prior to joining BKD, Jan held positions with Fortune 100 companies and, most recently, led the cybersecurity/privacy practice for an international public accounting firm, providing services to clients that included national and international companies in the health care, financial services, professional services, not-for-profit, higher education, retail and manufacturing industries. Jan is a frequent speaker and moderator on cybersecurity and privacy compliance topics and has written and lectured extensively on board-level awareness of cybersecurity risks and approaches to avoid, accept, mitigate and transfer them. He also serves as an adjunct professor of IT audit/cybersecurity at DePaul University. He is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Privacy Professional IT (CIPP) and is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, ISACA (formerly Information Systems Audit and Control Association), International Association of Privacy Professionals and Partners of the Americas Illinois-San Paulo Chapter. Jan is a graduate of Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, with a B.A. degree in history, an M.A. degree in Latin American history and an M.S. degree in computer science.

Delivery System

  • All programs are delivered using the Zoom platform.
  • Confirmations will include log-in instructions.
  • Participants are able to participate using any device with an Internet connect (if the device does not have speakers, the participant can also dial-in) or they can participate with audio only by dialing in.
  • All registrants will receive a link to the CLN’s recording by email within 48 business hours of event’s conclusion.
  • There will be assistance available to help with technical and connectivity issues up to 10 minutes prior to the start of the presentation.

Registration

All registration is done on-line and each guest must provide their name and email address to participate. All NSAC members may register for free. Non-members may register for a nominal fee.

Refund Policy

NSAC will not issue refunds for CLNs. If a registrant is unable to participate in the CLN and provides notification to info@nsacoop.org 48 hours prior to the session, a credit will be provided for a future CLN. Alert the NSAC staff member monitoring the CLN if technical difficulties are encountered and technical support will be provided to eliminate problems with future CLNs.

Additional Information

Live participation is required for CPE credit and polling questions must be answered to document your active participation. All registrants will receive an email following the session with links to the slides and/or handouts, and a link to the CLN recording (unless otherwise stated). If you are unable to participate in the live session, you can still watch the recorded session, but you will not be eligible for CPE credits. Those eligible for credits will receive their certificate by email with 7 business days.
