Job Overview:

The Inventory Accountant at GBC Food Services LLC will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring financial integrity through detailed accounting and analysis. This role requires a thorough understanding of inventory management accounting principles and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to optimize inventory practices. Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly NetSuite, and strong warehouse inventory accounting experience is essential for success in this role.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Post intercompany transactions, assist in credit card reconciliations, and other month-end duties.
  • Create and manage financial models to support organizational decision-making.
  • Process vendor bills, outbound and inbound shipping charges.
  • Automate reporting and increase data flow efficiency.
  • Record and manage shipping invoices and create credit memos for contractors for damaged products returned.
  • Prepare monthly inventory valuation reports and assist in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Manage and reconcile inventory accounts ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain detailed records of transactions and verify inventory counts from company warehouses and stockrooms.
  • Answer email inquiries about orders and process customer service database maintenance.
  • Implement and improve warehouse management systems, including barcode and traceability.
  • Assist in ERP implementation, maintenance, and enhancement support.
  • Conduct regular inventory and cycle counts audits to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Perform corrective actions based on audits to reconcile and create continuous improvement processes to deter future variances.
  • Analyze inventory variances and provide detailed reports to management.
  • Coordinate with procurement and operations teams to address inventory discrepancies.
  • Monitor and report on slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of inventory management policies and procedures.
  • Support the annual physical inventory process.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Utilize NetSuite and other systems for inventory management and reporting.
  • Oversee sales orders and warehouse performance.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with NetSuite and warehouse inventory accounting experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting with a focus on inventory management.
  • Experience with NetSuite and/or significant experience in warehouse inventory accounting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, or lift materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional work on production floors, including freezers and coolers.

Work Environment:

  • Standard office environment with occasional visits to production facilities.
