The Staff Accountant is accommodating and analytical while producing highly precise and accurate work. This team member will support our Accounts Payable team by providing oversight. They will also assist in the financial close processes. They will be a strong contributor to the dynamic reporting needs of the PTR by maintaining accurate financial records to enable data-driven reporting and business decisions. Flexibility will be essential in this fast-paced, high-volume invoicing environment. This position requires very careful adherence to well-defined work where repeatable results are needed. The work is highly precise in nature and requires very strong attention to detail. It is vital for the work output to be very high quality, with correct results, time and time again. Checking and double-checking is often necessary; individuals performing the job must be patient and conscientious.

 

COMPENSATION

This position has a competitive compensation package that is a combination of Base Salary plus Profit Sharing Paid Quarterly after 1 year of employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This is a hybrid role with 60% AP and 40% Staff Accounting responsibility.
  • Support monthly financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and accrual of monthly, quarterly, and annual expenses.
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliation for assigned general ledger accounts verifying the accuracy of data and identifying and correcting errors.
  • Initiate approved payment transactions including wire, ACH, check, and virtual card payments providing reporting and support, as requested.
  • Support additional Treasury tasks as assigned.
  • Support internal process improvement initiatives, as requested.
  • Perform monthly data import of fixed assets into fixed asset software.
  • Perform review of activities in the accounts payable function as assigned, reviewing for proper approval and general ledger account coding.
  • Research discrepancies in financial information and/or documentation (e.g., purchase orders, vendors, invoices, etc.) for ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing.
  • Be an added resource for the accounts payable team for questions as documentation and accounting issues arise and invoice processing, as needed.
  • Prepare tax form 1099 for applicable vendors.
  • Perform accounting review of employee expense reports in the expense management system.
  • Perform new employee training on expense reporting and accounts payable invoice review and approval.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

MUST HAVE

  • 2+ years of relatable experience and GAAP Accounting (Journal Entries, Debits & Credits, Excel, High Volume Invoicing)
  • Strong PC skills utilizing Microsoft Office & Excel.
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, keen attention to detail, and highly organized.
  • Strong team player with the ability to effectively interact with personnel from all aspects of the business unit.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of company and employee information.
  • Strong analytical and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

NICE-TO-HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field of study.
  • Familiarity with D365 – Finance & Operations, Concur, and Dooap.
  • Previous experience as a lead Accounts Payable or providing oversight for the AP team.
