We are seeking an energetic and experienced individual with a passion for creating efficiencies in retail budgeting and accounting operations. This position will work directly with NCG member staff to implement budgeting and accounting improvements and relevant NCG programs.
This is an ideal position for a seasoned retail finance professional or consultant interested in having a direct impact on the success of food co-ops. This position may be based out of NCG’s St. Paul, MN office but is eligible for a home office anywhere in the continental U.S. Up to 50% travel required including overnights and weekends (whenever business travel is broadly undertaken). Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide onsite financial consulting support to NCG member co-ops. In consultation with the Finance Services Manager, assess current systems, business processes, and financial controls and develop and implement recommended improvements. Coordinate with third party accounting providers when necessary.
- Support NCG members in preparation and implementation of operating budgets, financial forecasts and pro forma financial statements for co-op expansion and acquisition projects, using NCG’s Operating Budget tool and other standard tools.
- Support NCG members in the adoption and implementation of other financial management tools, including Weekly Sales Reports, Cash Forecasting Tool, etc.
- Develop enhanced budgeting and/or other finance tools for NCG’s member co-ops.
- Assist in the development of standardized finance practices for members.
- Perform financial assessments and prepare reports for member finance departments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in retail finance.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in budgeting and financial business planning.
- Strong financial modeling and analysis skills preferred.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan for, carry out and provide support for projects remotely with minimal supervision.
