What is NSAC's Cooperative Learning Network?
The NSAC Cooperative Learning Network is a live, interactive webinar, and you can attend from any location with internet and/or telephone access. NSAC members can attend an unlimited number of CLNs at no charge!

Who presents the information for one of these courses?
Each Cooperative Learning Network will have one or more speakers who are recognized experts on the topic. CLNs typically include a Q&A session where participants can ask questions live or by chat.

CPE Credits
The National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives (NSAC) is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be addressed to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.learningmarket.org.

CLN Policies
Refunds for CLNs are not provided. Member registrants, if unable to participate, will be provided with a link to the PODCast. Note PODCasts are not eligible for CPE credit.

What does my registration include?
Your registration includes long-distance charges for the audio portion and log-in to the video presentation. All handouts and presentation files are downloadable and may be printed out or saved to the participant's computer once they are logged in to the course meeting room. Sessions include one Certificate of Attendance. Certificates for additional participants are $10.00 each.

Course Description
This is a one-hour session on Record Retention and the important role this function plays in office operations. Records and documents are created daily whether they are in electronic form, paper form, or other media. Each cooperative has a duty to secure information and an equally important duty to destroy no longer relevant information. Retention policies and schedules are important in communicating the retention information to employees across the cooperative to ensure uniformity in which records are retained and maintained and the length of time they are retained. This CLN will review the anatomy of a documents management system covering the development of record retention policies and schedules, classification of documents for retention, types of storage, and the process of destruction.

Presenter Bio(s)
Bill Erlenbush, CPA is retired as Controller and Compliance Officer from GROWMARK, Inc. He is currently working part-time as NSAC’s Director of Education.

Bill spent his entire career working in cooperative accounting at GROWMARK. His work experience includes all aspects of order control and billing, accounts receivable/payable, financial accounting and tax. As compliance officer, he had responsibility for the administration of the compliance and ethics program at GROWMARK, its subsidiaries and retail divisions. In addition, he was involved in negotiating major acquisitions for GROWMARK.

His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Illinois State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Bill is an active member in many industry and professional groups. He also serves on the Mclean County United Way Board of Directors as well as on the Heartland Community College Foundation Board of Directors.
